The South West Branch of the Institute of Fisheries Management are holding two events at the beginning of this year which members may be interested in. The first, on Thursday January 21st, is their AGM followed by a presentation titled 'Keeping my head above water - 25 years of fisheries management in the commercial world' by John Colton from Kingcombe Aquacare Ltd. Secondly, on Tuesday February 23rd, at Bristol Zoo Gardens they are holding a seminar on 'Crayfish and Fisheries Management'

Venue: Blagdon Lodge at 12 noon
Come and hear at this meeting what your committee have been up to over the past year This is your opportunity to question your branch officers as to what they have  been doing in yours and your branches interest.
We start at around noon with a complimentary glass of wine or two This will be followed by a talk from Jon Smyth who is an expert on bee’s and then lunch which again this year will be served by Elaine and her team. This is a two course hot lunch followed by coffee. Then the raffle. The AGM proper starts at 2.15.
Junior Fishing Evenings

Venue: Chew Valley Lake.
Five junior fishing evenings. The branch will again be running the junior evenings at Chew. This is on Friday evenings from 4.30 until 8.30 starting on the 14th.May and running every Friday until the 11th. June. We need boatmen, flytyers and instructing assistance to make this work.
The previous two years we have run these evenings they have been immensely successful, so if you feel you could enjoy showing youngsters your fishing skills and love for angling, put your name down for those evenings you are able to attend.
Litton Day

Venue: Litton Lakes at 10am
This is a really great day out. The format is all those wishing to fish pay £35.00 which covers your fishing at the lakes. Bring your family to join you at the bankside and the barbeque – remember to bring your own food and drink. Have a great day out with boat fishing thrown in. For the last two years we have done this the weather has been fantastic, well at least for the barbeque, and last year we did catch quite a few fish.

Venue: Blagdon Lake.
Fishing from a boat or the bank for the Lord Darling Trophy. Not a serious competition but there is a bottle of whisky for the biggest fish and the trophy for the biggest bag.  Supper in the lodge, again supplied by Elaine’s Kitchen. A chance to meet old friends and enjoy a pleasant evening.
