As a branch we do support the promotion of game angling developement. We are always to be found at major country shows within our region, principally at the Royal Bath and West show which takes place at the May Bank Holiday week each year.
Our branch has several qualified instructors who are pleased to give freely of their time to teach anybody wanting to learn how to cast a fly rod at these shows, and a small donation to Salmon&Trout branch funds gets you a lesson.
We were also teaching at Bowood Game Fare in August.
However the main part of our group teaching is in supporting Bristol Water on their monthly beginner's days and weekly casting clinics run on most Saturday mornings. The branch also run its own teaching days usually supporting a special event for young people like Blagdon Youth Week or similar.
We are always willing to assist in any fishing day run by other organisations such as the Environment Agency. They themselves are also active in promoting angling and run several 'learn to fish days' within the southwest region.
